You Might Have Nerve Pain: What's Next?

  • If you don't have a doctor, you may want to try to find a neurologist.

  • A neurologist is a medical doctor that specializes in the brain & nerves of the body, so your nervous system, but this does NOT mean mental health.

  • Then talk to your doctor about your nerve pain & ask how to manage it.

  • Ask about medicines that are developed specifically to treat nerve pain.

  • Learning how to relax and set realistic goals.

  • Exercising. Identify a moderate program you can do safely.

  • Getting your family and friends involved.

  • Contact the American Chronic Pain Association at 1-800-533-3231. They can help you find a support group in your area or start a group with information and support from the national office.
